manipulate your mom
a little girl pointed at buckets of ice cream and asked her mom for some. her mom said no and looked away. the girl said pretty please and made a sad-puppy-face. then she smiled a little because her mom wasn't looking.
Neat. It makes me wonder if she smiled because she knew she won her mother over, or because, even if she wasn't going to get what she wanted, her mom had to turn away quickly before she would be compelled to give in to her daughter, meaning her daughter has a serious power over her, or both.
